What Joo Money is
Joo Money is a zero-based budgeting tool. You assign every dollar of income to a spending bucket, track transactions against those buckets, and see where your money went. You can use Joo Money entirely by entering transactions manually, free of charge, or connect your bank and credit card accounts through Plaid so transactions import automatically.
Joo Money is not a bank, a broker, a financial advisor, or a tax advisor. Nothing in the app is financial, investment, tax, or legal advice, and the budgeting suggestions it offers (including any automated categorization) are conveniences, not recommendations you should rely on for financial decisions. You are responsible for verifying your own account balances and transactions with your financial institutions.
Accounts and eligibility
You need an account to use Joo Money. You may sign up with an email address and password or with Google sign-in. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for all activity that happens under your account. Tell us right away if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
The $3/month Plaid subscription
Manual entry is free, with no subscription required. Connecting your bank and credit card accounts through Plaid for automatic transaction import is a paid feature: $3 per month, billed by our payment processor, Stripe. Your subscription starts when you connect a bank account and continues monthly until you cancel.
You can cancel at any time from within the app; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you will not be charged again after that. If you cancel, your connected accounts stop syncing new transactions, but the transactions and budget history already in Joo Money are preserved. If you resubscribe and reconnect the same accounts within 14 days of cancellation, we will pick up syncing from where it left off rather than treating the reconnection as a new account; after that 14-day grace period, reconnecting an account may re-import its transaction history from scratch, subject to what your financial institution and Plaid make available.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Joo Money for any unlawful purpose, or to store or transmit data you don't have the right to store or transmit.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to another user's account or data, or to the systems that run Joo Money.
- Interfere with or disrupt the service, probe it for vulnerabilities without permission, or attempt to circumvent rate limits or access controls.
- Reverse engineer, scrape, or resell the service, or use it to build a competing product.
- Connect financial accounts you are not authorized to access.
No warranty; limitation of liability
Joo Money is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that transaction data imported from Plaid will always be complete or accurate — bank feeds can be delayed, incomplete, or wrong, and you should treat Joo Money as a budgeting aid, not a source of truth for your actual account balances.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Joo Money and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, income, or profits, arising out of or related to your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to Joo Money will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or $30, whichever is greater.
Termination
You may stop using Joo Money and delete your account at any time by contacting us (see below) or, where available, through in-app account deletion. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms, misuse the service, or if we discontinue Joo Money altogether. If we discontinue the service, we will make a reasonable effort to notify account holders in advance and let you export your data first.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Joo Money changes. If a change is material, we will email the account holder about it before it takes effect. Continuing to use Joo Money after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
